Ginger Extract in the BreatheEasex formula

What ginger is

Ginger is the rhizome of Zingiber officinale, used as both food and traditional remedy across Asia for thousands of years. Its compounds of interest are gingerols, and shogaols in dried or heated preparations.

Traditional usage context

Unusually for a botanical in a wellness formula, ginger is something most people already eat. It appears across Ayurvedic, Chinese and European traditional practice, and in an enormous range of cuisines.

What the research covers

Ginger has one of the more solid evidence bases among common botanicals, particularly for nausea, where it has been studied repeatedly and fairly consistently.

Its antioxidant compounds are real and well characterised. Evidence specifically supporting respiratory outcomes is considerably thinner, and we would not overstate it.

Why it appears in the BreatheEasex formula

It completes the product graphic’s four-botanical list with mullein, lobelia and peppermint oil. It does not appear on the official site’s seven-ingredient list.

Responsible expectations

Antioxidant contribution and general comfort. Not a treatment for any respiratory condition.

  • Generally well tolerated and widely consumed as an ordinary food.
  • May have mild effects on bleeding — mention it if you take warfarin or aspirin, or have surgery scheduled.
  • Can cause heartburn or mild stomach discomfort at higher amounts.
  • Speak to a doctor first if you have gallstones.

Worth noting: fresh ginger costs very little and goes into cooking or tea. If ginger is what you want, that route is open to anyone.
